The Death of Mariah Papaya
May 15, 2012
A little over a year ago I came home from a work and pulled into my space in the garage of my apartment. I saw a creepy bald guy scoping me out before heading up the stairs to the apartment units. Considering the area where we live it did not particularly draw much of my attention, albeit slightly out of the ordinary considering I get off work at 7:00 a.m.
I took the elevator to my floor and as soon as the doors opened I was met by several men asking me who I was, then proceeding to take my possessions from me including my computer bag and some items I had picked up at the grocery store on the way home. They walked me to the entrance of my apartment and asked me to face the wall, explaining that I was not under arrest. I doubt the distinction was made to the landlady who was peering around the corner.
When they finished their search they produced a search warrant for any electronic or computer related items. They were looking for child porn. I should have felt some relief knowing that I did not possess anything that fell into that category, but instead felt the ground was swallowing me like quicksand. I’ve been in this position before and I know that you don’t need to do anything wrong to have people appear from nowhere bent on destroying your life.
Today, over a year later I stood in court pleading not guilty to “distributing obscene material” Talks with my public defender proved to be encouraging however it’s really not over until the fat lady gags.
How I got here is a story in and of itself. The result of all of these events however is that I will no longer be producing Erotic Art music video compilations. It’s a promise I made to my wife who I love more than anything in the world, and who woke up bewildered and traumatized when the F.B.I, County Sheriffs and City Police entered our apartment.
While I will not be dismantling Mariah Papaya Productions at this point, I will not be producing any more Erotic Art making the portfolio of 112 videos a limited item. From an artistic standpoint this should make what I have produced more valuable if I was ever destined to be the “Andy Warhol of Porn” as I had intended. You can still google Mariah Papaya Productions and find my WordPress page with the links to my Blogspot and Tumblr but you will not see any more new Erotic Art music video compilations made by me. I will continue producing “Postcards from Santa Barbara” which is my YouTube channel but from now on my creative focus will be completely and totally family oriented with nothing stronger than you would expect to see from an “R” rating.
I want to thank all of my loyal fans for their support during this phase of my creative growth and let you know that your appreciation for my videos has not gone unnoticed. This is a necessary step that I need to take to preserve and protect my personal life and honor the commitment I made to provide a life that my wife deserves when we married. A life filled with love, happiness, safety and security. Our lives and our spirits are meant to flourish, not be destroyed or dismantled. In this way, with this small sacrifice I hope to preserve this ideal within my life and our lives together. Remember always, that YOU are the fountain of creativity. Although I will no longer be producing Erotic Art, beauty and artistic expression cannot be suppressed. Like a flower growing from the cracks in a sidewalk our souls continue to be expressed. Life is a dance, and YOU are the music.
Warm regards, always.
